A New Look for The Craft Junky

This was such a fun custom project to work on, I mean, who doesn't want to draw cute little narwhals!? Amanda over at The Craft Junky is one seriously crafty mama who makes the cutest geek inspired goodies. She even sells some of her goodies in her Etsy shop here.  I'm LOVING doing these banners so shoot me an email if you're interested in a quote!

New look for Lucy & Norman

I mentioned in this post that I've been trying to do more custom design work and I recently got to do a really fun project for Megan from Lucy & Norman. Megan is a super sweet, mult-talented crafter who writes an equally sweet and inspiring blog. It was a pleasure to create this new banner for her!
I hope you'll pop over to her blog and check it out. The new sweater she's knitting is going to be amazing!

Love Day Freebie

It's almost February and about time to start thinking about those you are sweet on. Send a little love with these note cards. I made these for you to download and enjoy for free.

Included in the pdf are:
• 3 folding notecards (They fold down to 3.5 inches x 5 inches and fit standard 4 bar envelopes like these.)
• 3 labels (or use them as gift tags!)
• 3 seals (or print a bunch and make a garland!)

Just download the Free Valentines Notecards and print onto heavy-weight card stock. Cut along the outside lines and share with those you love!

*Please remember that this download is for personal use only, don't sell or redistribute the pdf or cards in any way. Thanks! :)

A is for Accordion

I'm really challenging myself this year to draw just for the sake of drawing to try to build my portfolio of vector work. I thought it would be fun to work through the alphabet making little drawings for each letter each week. Maybe I'll make a poster of all the drawings when I'm done, or maybe I won't do anything with them. Either way, I think it'll be fun! So, here's A...

Inspired Mondays

I'm a little behind today with real work but I had to share this wonderful illustrator that I found via the Etsy front page last week. GollyBard offers original watercolor paintings that are insanely affordable. I would love to have one of her pieces for my home. The color palettes are so soothing and lovely. I hope you'll check out her Etsy shop!

You're Tweet

Yesterday this cute little bird flew into my life and I figured he'd make a pretty perfect Valentine to share with you. What's better he's good for sending a little love note all year 'round. The cards are 4x6 so they'll fit into a standard A2 envelope, or use them as a gift tag with a hole punched in one corner. You could also use them to share recipes or to tuck inside a lunch box. Download the pdf and print on heavy card stock and use the crop marks to trim them to size. Enjoy and let me know how you used them! Download the pdf here.

Giveaway!

My sincerest, heartfelt apologies for my neglecting of this poor blog for so long. I can finally announce that we're expecting our 2nd child in August and thus the reason for my absence. The nausea and sheer exhaustion were enough to put me in serious hibernation for such a long time. It's slowly, slowly getting better and I'm starting to feel a bit like myself again.

I've been promising this giveaway for such a long time and I'm finally getting around to posting about it. I've had a very limited edition series of prints and original drawings available here at the Shiny Squirrel since December. To celebrate (a bit late) I'll be giving away a set of the "girls" shown above. To enter just leave a comment and I'll pick someone at random to receive the prints. (Worth $60!) Deadline is next Thurs. the 5th of February. (OMG, I can't believe next week is February already, somebody slow this ride down!)

I Feel Summer Creeping In...

Very, very slowly summer is arriving. We had an incredibly beautiful Monday, it was 80 degrees and windy. Perfect for kite flying and rock hunting on the beach. Since then, it's been in the 50s and dreary. This has made it very difficult to get motivated to do anything besides curling up in my favorite chair with a cup of tea and a good gothic romance novel. So, for the time being, the photo above with have to suffice and remind me that summer really will be here soon.

In other news, I received my Spoonflower
beta invite today! Woo-Hoo! My toes are tingling with excitement and my brain is racing with ideas. This truly opens up so many avenues for me. I'm thinking of custom fabric for coins purses, dolls, pillow, the list goes on and on. What will be my first custom fabric? I've been holding onto this doggie illustration for something special, it could make a really cute summer jumper for Brodi. I may have to have a yard printed.
